Many of you religiously watch “Say Yes To The Dress”, a show that features brides in quest of the perfect wedding dress at Kleinfeld’s, the Mecca for wedding dress shoppers. Kleinfeld’s is enormous with over 30,000 square feet of space and over 250 employees. Say Yes To The Dress is the ultimate reality show for brides. If you watch regularly then you have no doubt noticed that several Canadian brides from Toronto have been featured. In fact according to Kleinfeld’s, 10% of their business comes from Canada.
The exciting news is that the Hudson’s Bay Company has bought the exclusive rights to the store in Canada and plans to launch a Kleinfeld’s flagship at The Bay on Queen Street in early 2014, with Vancouver and Montreal branches to follow. The Toronto Kleinfeld’s store will be a smaller than the Manhattan flagship location but at 20,000 square feet, it will be an enormous store. Ronald Rothstein, one of the owners of Kleinfeld’s said that the gowns will probably start at $1,500, though most will probably range from $2,500 to $7,500. With 60 designers, prices can go as high as $30,000.
Kleinfeld’s most expensive gown was an $80,000 custom-made one a few years ago. It included a 20-foot train studded with Austrian crystals. Brides will have an authentic Kleinfeld experience because they will have a hand in training staff for the Toronto store.
