1. Are your Officiants licensed?

Yes, all our officiants are licensed to perform marriage ceremonies by the Register General of the Province of Ontario.

2. What is the maximum number of guests that I can have at my wedding?

The Toronto Wedding Chapel can accommodate up to 25 guests.

3. I don’t have any witnesses, could you help me?

Yes, we can provide you with two witnesses. We would need advanced notice that you require 2 witnesses.

4. Do the witnesses have to be 18 or over?

No, your witnesses have to be old enough to fully understand the process. If you wish to have your children sign or younger family members, this is admissible.

5. Do you provide the marriage license?

No. Each couple must obtain their own marriage license from Toronto City Hall and make sure it remains valid for their wedding ceremony.

6. Can we eat food inside The Toronto Wedding Chapel?

Yes you can, we can arrange for hors d’oeuvres and wedding cake in The Toronto Wedding Chapel.

7. How do I know my ceremony is legal?

Directly following your ceremony you will receive a Record of Solemnization of Marriage. This is a legal document that serves as proof of your marriage. 6-8 weeks after your wedding you may wish to apply for a certificate of marriage. The application form and fee information is included in the information you received in your marriage license envelope.

8. How far in advance do I need to book my appointment at The Toronto Wedding Chapel?

It’s best to book as soon as you know the date of your wedding ceremony to avoid disappointment. However, last minute bookings are also possible—give us a call!

9. What are the requirements for marriage in Toronto?

Some of the things required are as follows:
You must be over the age of 18.
You must have 2 witnesses
If you have been granted a divorce a divorce outside Canada you must get a divorce decree.
You must have a valid marriage license.
You must have the proper identification.
Please visit the Toronto Marriage License office for all requirements.

10. How often are your ceremonies?

Our ceremonies are scheduled in 1-hour intervals. The ceremony is approximately 12 minutes, leaving you some time for photos and congratulations.

11. Can I book more time if I want?

Yes, you can book additional time-please let us know you would like to do so during booking.

12. Can I write my own vows or change the script?

You absolutely can write your own vows for the basic ceremony or one of the packages. If you book one of the wedding packages, you can also choose to customize the script, including readings and elaborate with various additions such as ‘the unity candle’, the ‘sand ceremony’ or the ‘rose exchange’. You can discuss these details with your officiant.

13. Do you offer ceremonies in other languages?

We currently offer services in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese . If you feel that you need an interpreter for a language that we can’t provide, we highly recommend that you ask a friend or relative to do this for you in order to fully understand your wedding ceremony.

14. What do I do with my license afterward?

Your license will be mailed by the Officiant and you can apply for your certificate 8 weeks after the wedding date. On your wedding day, you will be given your Record of Solemnization of Marriage by the officiant.

15. Do your officiants perform same sex weddings?

Yes. The Ontario Court of Appeal issued a decision on June 10, 2003 that ruled that same-sex couples have the right to be legally married.

16. Do you have accessibility services?

The chapel is located at ground level, however there are steps leading down into the Chapel area. Please inform us of any concerns you may have.

17. Can I arrange a rehearsal?

Yes, rehearsals can be requested in advance for an additional charge.

18. What options are available for ceremony and reception music?

Everything about your wedding, including the music, should reflect who you are as a couple. We have a catalog of music options available for your wedding ceremony or your reception. Some popular wedding songs are:
